Re: Buzzards

The Australian magpie is a large black and white bird, quite handsome and very clever. We have a whole clan of them that we feed, Several generations. We know quite a few of them by sight. some get very trusting and will eat out of your hand. They can be aggressive and a lot of people hate them, but...

Life in Bendigo.

I was out at my other service station at Inglewood, about 30 miles from Bendigo, when my phone went 'Toooot'. Message from wife. "Your bloody kitten! He climbed up onto the sputnik and went through the bars into the loft!. "Luckily I saw him and when I got there he was looking unsure about...

Re: Buzzards

We have a few Peregrines around here but they get a hard time. My wife feeds the magpies, sometimes there are 30 or 40 on the lawn. Some are very tame. They get on well with the pigeons, sometimes sharing the bath. When a falcon gets too close the magpies get stuck into them and the crows, or ravens...

Re: Using Garlic

I use the one with the mother in. I use the ones made for poultry as I can get it at wholesale price from my suppliers. You could make a quid there, Andy. Get a 1000 litre pelican of it at, whatever it costs in pounds, put it in 1 and 5 and 10 litre containers, think of a catchy name.... Boom. :D

Re: Buzzards

What is a 'buzzard', Andy?
I am not sure what the equivalent is here.
The closest I can see from the interweb is the kite, which is a bin chicken. They hover in huge numbers over rubbish dumps.

Re: Todays weather.

They said there was a 'chance' of a thunderstorm. That translates as 'next to no possibility'. But there you go, it's raining really good and there's a fair bit of lightning around. The cats are funny. Olly is under the bed. Banjo is on the dining table pretending to be asleep. Flynn is at t...

Re: Using Garlic

Because I could not get out to the orchard at one point, to buy the natural fermented ACV, when I was at the wholesaler buying stock for the Service station, I bought a bottle of cheap supermarket cider vinegar. I put some in the bottle the natural stuff had been in, and the 'mother' started growing...

Re: Todays weather.

Heading to about 30c with a chance of showers later.

Practically the same every day for the next week. 28 to 30 degrees with chance of 1 to 5 mm of rain.

Re: Using Garlic

I also give them Apple cider vinegar every second day during the week, at a rate of 10 mls in 3 litres of water. It's important, I think not to make it so strong that they start drinking less, especially in the hot weather. They seem to like the taste at that sort of strength, but it's a bit of tria...
