Re: Breeding youngsters

I have a slightly different approach to raising youngsters. Let's face it, pigeons will breed under water. :D I do keep the nest boxes and nest bowls clean. I find the parents are more attentive to the babies when the box is nice and clean. Strange, but true. Other than that I have a pot of food and...

Re: Worming.

I have put the wormer in the drinkers, and yes, it is moxidectin.
I am getting some Ivermectin soon so I will re do them. I have been using the horse drench for several years and it's time for a change, as they say the worms get resistant to one medication all the time.

Re: Not what we want in the sport.

Of course some people try to beat the system by doping their pigeons. Some people even benefit from it, if they are experts and know what they are doing. But even they never last long. Many are idiots who don't know what they are doing. True story. Many years ago a fancier I knew who thought he was ...

Worming.

A question for the members. With my birds spending a fair bit of time, (maybe too much time), poking around in the garden, I do like to treat them for worms from time to time. Because I had some later bred babies that are just flying now, the big ones are well into the moult. I am of two minds about...

Re: Getting the right nutrition fed.

Yes, give it a try. It only takes a minute to throw some green leaves and a carrot and a bit of kale or whatever you have in the blender.

Its good for them and they really enjoy it.

Re: The sputnik

I am going to prune the apricot tree today. Having had such a fantastic growing season, warm but not too hot, plenty of rain, it has almost grown into the loft! Last year we half murdered it, pruned it right back to the trunk almost, and now look at it :o I will get the loppers and start cutting it ...

Re: The sputnik

I fitted the sputnik on the loft yesterday. It looks good and the birds like it. It is full of babies! The birds are responding well to trapping through it, and I am increasing the amount of feed I can give them without them messing about. I handled half a dozen earlier, they feel fantastic, and are...
