I’ll agree with you there George. I would actually be ashamed to send these youngsters out how they look at 21 days but they are thriving and the older ones, only a week older, look completely different now than when weaned. Also, although I haven’t done this before, they are being weaned in with the widowhood hens that have been removed and are the mothers of the youngsters so are still feeding them a bit.George and Morgan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 9:24 pm maybe staying in the same loft is ok Andy not sure if going to a new loft

That is something usually look at too mate, I like them to have good coverage before they are weaned. I also like to know they are feeding and drinking properly and can get at least get up to a bottom perch, as you say this is more important if they are going into a new loft. I've got two to wean from my small shed, but if I put them in my race loft before they can get up to a perch they will get slaughtered as I don't have a young bird section at the moment. At the moment any youngsters bred in the race loft just wean themselves.

If that eye is the same or even matured more it is a cracking eye. The inner circle is very wide and serrated. Looks like a washer has been put over the pupil which is what I look for. The iris also has plenty of room. A nice pigeon George.
