The Bendigo boys had their second race today.
Another bloke I gave youngsters to was second, only just beaten, with a mealy cock off one one of my red Thone' cocks. It's a nice pigeon too.
Life in Bealiba.
Garry just called me. The 665, who is a very nice pigeon, didn't want to go out and fly the other morning. When chased out he went on the roof and dived back in again.
Today he arrived first from the race and dived in. Beaten 1 minute 50 seconds
Is he chasing the hens? I asked.
Yes, he said.
Do you have an empty section? I asked.
Yes, he said.
I said, Right, put him in the section, with an old hen. Get a cardboard box. Cut a big hole in it and put a nest bowl in it.
If he is chasing the hen next week you MUST NOT send him. You will never see him again.
Really? he said.
Yes, really. I said.
If she is in the nest bowl , send him and he WILL win.
Really? he said.
Yes really, I said. And if he wins next week he will win the two weeks after.
Wow! he said. You know so much!
No, I thought. I just come from a different background.
This is a bloke who has had pigeons for years. But racing to the perch is all they know here.

Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.

Good to see they doing well
Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

It'll be interesting to hear how he gets on next time out mateMurray wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:32 am Garry just called me. The 665, who is a very nice pigeon, didn't want to go out and fly the other morning. When chased out he went on the roof and dived back in again.
