The national went from Tarbes at 14.00 Mike.
Littlehampton RPC
Our birds went up at 10.30am in what was given as a light North West wind with some heavy rain on route, not sure how far down it goes before the wind changes, it's quite a blustery South West here. There are blue Skies with the odd short, sharp shower.
We could see a few home before nightfall but I'm not holding my breath !!

Just stopping a little now
The combine birds at Creif were eventually liberated at 10.30 in what was given as a light North West wind, the wind was variable from North West, West and South West on route, there was also going to be rain around. It was always going to be an unpredictable race, it was going to be either a blow home or a real stinker. There was a possibility that some birds could get home in 8.5 to 9hrs but realistically most of us were ready for an early rise on Sunday.
I set my clock running in good time and settled to watch the football
at half time I decided to go down the garden and clean the birds out, I cleaned out what I wanted to and was just tidying things away ready to sit in the garden, just incase anything did turn up, when I heard a bird drop on the loft. I stuck my head out to have a look, expecting it to be one of our local ferrals, but to my surprise, and joy it was my pool pigeon. He didn't waste much time going in and was on the clock at 19.18.17, AFT 8hrs 48mins 17secs, I couldn't believe it
then at 19.42 another bird came out of the east followed by another at 19.48, all three yearlings. I only had to wait less than half an hour before another 2 arrived together and clocked in at 20.16 the first of these two was a Stichlebaut cock bird from Buster I had another at 20.33. We were doing the clocks at 10.15 so I had one last check at 9.45, I left the clock running as I was still waiting for my nom bird. Most members had got something home but only one or two, and a lot of them after 9pm. Unfortunately we had problems getting a signal for the clock at the club so had to go to the Club Secretaries house and use the system there but could only do a progress report for each member and not a result, on the times given it did look like I was going to win this one
I got home just before 11.30, went straight up the garden to check my clock and to my amazement I had another 4 home, one at 21.51, one at 21.55, one at 21.56 and incredibly one at 22.57 !!!
I had birds coming in Sunday from 6am and by the time I went back to the club, 7pm, I had 19/24 home !! I had one more today, he has a slight injury to one leg but is otherwise ok. Sadly one of the 4 still missing is one of my best old birds, he was bred out of Rich Gould stock (some of you would remember him as Bryn on the old forum) he was 4th Club Hexham and 3rd club Perth last year and 10th Hexham, 10th Club Kelso this year, he is also the sire of my 2nd bird. With returns being as good as they are you have to fear the worst for a bird like him
two of the others I'm not really surprised and the other is yearling hen who has been coming well so that's a bit of shame too.
This is our club result This is how my birds arrived This is our current fed top 10 From first reports on the combine it looks like the birds are well spread right along the coast again, our Federation winner (Eastbourne) is in poll position just 1yrd infront of the 2nd placed bird clocked in Winchester, some 60miles apart, which considering how strong that West wind was is quite something !!
A decent race in the end, well done to all.
