We're different fanciers you and I Trev and that shows in the way we go about doing things
Your primary passion is for the longer events, whilst mine is in the shorter disciplines
Doesn't make me better than you, or vice versa, we're just different that's all
I've been trying to get you to see things a different way but I'm gonna need to step away from this one now
Very best of luck tomorrow, and for the rest of 2024
Believe me Mike, you, Neil and Muzza, ( along with other members of the forum) have made me see things differently, I always appreciate hearing others points of view so your comments certainly haven't been wasted. I have introduced some sprint birds into my team this year to try and be more competitive from the shorter races, I just need to take a good look at myself and my set up to give them a fair crack at it, but therein lies the problem, I've never been good with change lol
All the best and thanks again.
Thanks for the mention, Trev.
You and I are very much alike, we have racing pigeons in the back yard for the simple pleasure they bring. However we both quietly achieve a bit of success.
Someone once said to me, when I was, as usual, figuring the odds about a deal we were doing, "Can't you ever stop thinking like a f........ jockey!"
No, I can't.
Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.
We had 10 members send 274 birds to Bovingdon last night, there is 750 birds in the federation.
I was talking to the conveyor about last weeks race, he had a bit of a disagreement with the race controller as he felt it was too cloudy for a good liberation and wanted to wait a while, but the race controller said to let them go, he didn't realise that he is allowed to say overrule the controller if he's not happy !! He said that the birds circled for a good 15 to 20 minutes before finally clearing, that would certainly explain the slow velocities. Apart from the speed it was actually a decent race with very few losses so no harm done, it will be a very different race today

Told you those birds never cleared properly
And you're right. I used to be the Race Controller for the Worcester Fed when it was 47 clubs sending 10,000 a week
My message to the convoyer was "If you are happy onsite the line of flight is good"
But if you can't get them away well the line of flight is secondary
Our birds were liberated this morning at 9.30. The first report is that they took a couple of minutes to clear. Straight away that knocks 50ypm off my birds and being one of the shortest flyers at just 34 miles puts us at a big disadvantage.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
