Not good returns
7.30 this morning load birds went over just above roof height stood and watched them and they split and a few went back the direction they came from the others carried on towards Stafford way
Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud

Cheers Mike yep there wasn’t many forecast sites we didn’t check

Looked like lots of bad races all across the south of the country!
I saw a good result from Bath libbed around 12:30. But anything further south than that was a disaster!

It sounds like a lot of our members birds turned up next day, still a few missing but I don't think it was as bad as the one a few weeks ago. I've got 19/22 home. Got both of George's 2, it does seem to be the sprint fanciers who have been hit hardest, and it was my brought in sprint pigeons that struggled the most. Probably another emotive comment, but I do think feeding beans helps with these tougher races !!
I think our trouble was the distance 170-180 miles should have dropped back to 70 milesTrev wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 7:59 am It sounds like a lot of our members birds turned up next day, still a few missing but I don't think it was as bad as the one a few weeks ago. The poor weather ours faced was Nottinghamshire about 80 miles of low cloud / thick mist a fed near to us that went from Peterborough had a normal race in London in was a decent day the trouble was further up for us
I think to much light feeding doesn’t help Trev on these days as carbs are burnt quickly in flight then they run on muscle mass but you can add protein and fats that’s readily digested without beans or peas these energy mixtures are high protein high fat I find
The trouble with beans is they take longer to get in the system plus can slow the birds down for the other 9 weeks of normal racing unless your working them constantly so I think after Monday your better off with easily digested fats/ proteins and the peas / beans are more to repair Sunday if used
I don’t seem to lose many and seem to win at various vels upto 300 miles just control the protein / fats to the wind and distance over the week not just the Thursday
My ybs get fats every day the percentages just change , last week I fed to send and they were flying well over a hour all week as they were being constantly topped with energy rich grains which for natural ybs in September wasn’t bad
When I use to work away 3 days a week
I had my birds in beans 24/7 so they didn’t over eat and fed in with a mixture when I let them out to trap . I found to 200 miles I was 10-15 min off the pace but from France there was no issues they performed but upto 200 I think you can do add protein in other ways
