Last Sunday I had a stray on the house. He didn’t come in with mine, but later in the morning the chap from a couple of doors down came around and said that they had a pigeon in their garden. I went round and was able to catch it. It was a 3 year old grizzle cock. He was in quite good condition but was missing a few tail feathers and feathers around the base of his tail. So had obviously had a lucky escape. I contacted the owner who was from Cannock, Staffordshire. He was racing from Purbeck on the South Coast on the Saturday. I told the chap that I would keep hold of him and release him when I was training. So this morning when I went training I took him with me. I put him up as soon as I got to Frome and he headed straight off in a Northerly direction. I sent the chap a message to let him know that I had let him go at 6.35am. He sent me a message back around lunchtime saying that he had just got home for lunch and the grizzle was sitting there waiting for him. He had flown a bit over 100 miles single up. Great to hear he got home safely.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
