I was a bit average yesterday, I must say.
Up bright and early this morning, out to the lift in my PJs to shut them in from the sputnik, had a coffee and my lung inhaler, feeling far better :D
Amazing what a night's sleep can do.

I'm having a spot of trouble with my young birds.
Because I sent so many away to other lofts the ones I have left are a mixture of ages. Some of the younger ones have only been flying for a short time while the biggest ones are on their 6th flight. And never had a toss.
So they are starting to get clever and disobedient. I've had to really get tough on them. It's become a battle of wills, but I hold the feed tin, so I win. :D
Knowing they were pretty hungry this morning, I tipped them out and they flew well, then some of the younger ones dropped in so they got a small feed. The big ones kept going and disappeared, so I put 6 old birds out for their fly. They picked up the young birds and went another half hour. Then I saw some of them land high in the big gum tree.
But the old birds dropped in and hunger took over. They young buggers came in. They got some feed, a little bit, so they had a reward for trapping.
I need to start getting them up the road and give them something to do. I'm waiting for a spell of cooler weather.

I'm sure you'll soon get them to tow the line ;)
At least they keep you busy :D
When does your racing start over there and are you going to race any from your loft this year ??

Ah, that's the thing.
I've moved 70 miles west of Bendigo. They will probably start racing in July, from the west this year. I am permitted to join in, because they have other new members who are just as far away and on much worse lines.
But It's really pretty hopeless, If they start from Emu, I will be 10 miles in the opposite direction! But there is a possible upside.
If I wait until the races are out past me, about 6 weeks, and get a small team of yearling cocks on the widowhood, I will be so short and so fast..... :D

I see, sounds like it could be something worth having a bash at, well good luck with whatever you do Muzza, and good luck to those who are going to be racing your birds this year.

Nearly 8 am and it's still too dark to let them out. Heavy low cloud and spits of rain.
I'll clean and feed them. It's going to tip down shortly I think.

I never thought of it being dark at 8am what would be the daylight hours in summer compared to winter daylight hours
I guess you’re close to your winter ? going by the dates the Ashes are played that’s my only knowledge on your seasons

It's about half way back to the shortest day again, so the mornings are getting later, but that was very unusual. I can get them out at 7.30 most mornings now and its usually well light.
I was wondering where I've put my LED lights, I could hardly see to clean out.
Low black cloud. It's lifted a bit now and lightened up a bit but still a lot of cloud and we are going to get some rain. Which is good.
