Its been lovely last two mornings here and 18 degrees later
Brilliant blue sky at first light
Baskets out yesterday the 7 hens 10 miles south east from work went up at 645
Cocks dead north tonight
Might be early although I know plenty that are training
Days like this are not to be missed much better now in the warmth than in a week times or so in cold temps
Training yet

Make the best of the weather while it lasts, expect it will turn cold & wet again, think it would be better to start the season a couple of weeks later when the weather does change, but the Combine want to start early to coincide with the BICC, NFC, Classic races so it does mean getting them going in lower temperatures earlier.
We start the 12th that’s a bit early I thinkCHARLTON34 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 9:11 am Make the best of the weather while it lasts, expect it will turn cold & wet again, think it would be better to start the season a couple of weeks later when the weather does change, but the Combine want to start early to coincide with the BICC, NFC, Classic races so it does mean getting them going in lower temperatures earlier.
I have nearly all yearlings so I need to be a bit gentle on them
I always think some of the BICC races are early and although the winners are national type winners and good for them I do think are you really when I imagine lads 200 plus miles further up have not had chance to get there birds more than 100 miles
It’s like the nrcc people say why doesn’t London support well the first race is 320 350 miles when we are at 112 miles the week before
This year I think we would have had a 140 though as we start a week early which is a bit better
We only need a cold wet period and we are on the back foot so it doesn’t get the support it could get
Plenty round here have started, as usual ours were always started when it’s fit, espescially the yearlings, ours are and always have been flown at home after half a dozen or so chucks and only trained when we think they needed it which some years was zero

Hi Dave
As you progress with training keep close tabs on the time it takes them to get from a-b but also how long it takes them to clear the liberation site
You will be needing them to clear instantly the more tosses they have. Failure to do so is indicative of an underlying issue (some won’t agree but trust me on that)
