Crikey they are tough.

That pigeon arrived back yesterday injured and tired. Today the two big babies were running around after him and he was pumping food into them. He could have just jumped out of the nest box and left them to it. They can feed themselves. But no, he was feeding them and then sitting the new eggs and then I saw him out on the sputnik billing his mate.

If it weren't for the V shaped gark in his chest, you would say he is spot on.

I sent 8 pigeons, 4 cocks and 4 hens, to the 4th of the sprint race series.

The predators are taking their toll, only 4 flyers sent 43 pigeons. Several members have been cleaned out. The falcons are very bad this year.

Head winds are forecast so it will be a bit slower than last week.

Fingers crossed.

Yesterday's race was strange.

One bloke sent 11 but in 3 separate teams in 3 different names, got them together and was 1st 2nd and 3rd.

His must have flown straight to him, he was way in front.

The rest of us fought out the minor placings, I got one from the opposite direction to claim 5th, 3 metres per minute behind the 4th. 6th was a coupe of metres per minute behind me and 7th was a bit behind again.

Obviously something broke them up. They came home all day again and I am missing several. Some of them will wander home.

This is quite unlike pigeon racing as I was used to. Getting them home is the difficult bit.
