I don't know the rules on membership numbers but I believe you have to have a minimum of 4 flying members present for basketing !!!Andy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 6:23 pmI have thought about that. But according to RPRA rules, rule 17, if I read it correctly, requires a minimum of 8 competing lofts to form a club. This is ridiculous given the current state of the sport and how many clubs already race with far fewer members. I couldn’t find 6 flying members within a 10 mile radius of me lol. The other problem here would be that even if we did manage to start up a club we would still have to take the birds to Glastonbury to meet the transporter.
I am considering on joining the Glastonbury club. This is a strong club with some top national flyers in it. I spoke to someone today and said that the headquarters is actually in Street which is a bit closer. About 35/40 minutes away. Marking and clocks are at a reasonable time too.
Rumour has it that a couple of other fairly local clubs around here are probably going to pack up at the end of the season, this is mostly due to the fact that the members in charge are getting too old and none of the younger members want to take up the mantle.
It sounds like joining Glastonbury could be a great move for you Andy, which Federation do they belong to and what road do they fly ???
