A good family of birds should do well up and down the country in different areas, in different competition, in different management styles

My Gaby's have won all over the UK in all sorts of hands.

They don't need excuses.

There's more strength in a fizzy drink as some of these birds nowadays,,there either just slow homers or weak as pixx ,I've had same birds 15 yrs odd with tried n tested introductions along the way ,,I look on Internet and same flyer in Belgium in the sprint hotbed not where its weak n they get co offient for awards the sprint hot bed n same names still winning as they was 30 years ago.

I wouldn’t totally agree with that Mike. I had a good team in Sussex that were winning plenty but the same birds didn’t perform as well when I moved down to Cornwall. The base family were still there but I had to bring in a few introductions to blend into my old family.

I guess we just speak from our own experiences.

My comments were based on one family of pigeons that have won up and down the UK to ALL levels for 30 years

Naturally there needs to be "some" talent as a pigeon man

I wouldn't expect Willie Mullins to let me manage his horse stables 2 weeks before Cheltenham and get the same results because I wouldn't know what I was doing

That's true, Mike.
While I absolutely believe in rule 1, that good pigeons win races and slow ones don't, the fancier with a natural feel for the pigeons is going to do better with the same pigeons than bloke who doesn't.
You can sort of tell within a few minutes if a fancier is a good pigeon man, his pigeons tend to pay attention to him and move towards him. Other blokes, not so much...

Invariably I find the ones with the loudest voice when the result is being published is not the guy in pole position ;)
