I've got a few too. And the colour of their toe nails is no indication of their worth at all.

In my experience there's only 2 things that make a good pigeon
1. What's in its head
2. What's in its heart
You only find out when testing them in racing - ideally in the strongest competition you can find.

Isn't that the truth.
How often is the best pigeon in the shed one that you took not much notice of at first. Not the best looking or best bred, but it turns out to be the one with the best motor.
