Talk about anything racing pigeon related here aslong as there isnt a section for it.

But next year I may use them all for races around 250-400 miles
Now I feed my hens light and happy they do a hour a day
For the middle distance races I would think I need a slightly different feed and not do rationed
The hens section has grids and perch’s with dividers ( I didn’t want to box them )
I’m thinking about them going lesbo and these are the hens my cocks race to
I can’t put a decent aviary on that section to shut them out in
Just looking for advice on how to get over the more generous feeding and avoiding them going lesbo
The grids do work and I could slope them if I have to although a pain
How do others get over this problem so tne hens still give the cocks the attention Saturday when they return from sprinting l
You could try giving both sexs a short toss midweek and letting them run together for a few hours once back.
I had a similar idea Steve but so the cocks didn’t see the hens I was thinking could I get away with running the hens in the cocks section for half hour a night while the cocks are doing there daily loft fly or even feed the hens in the cocks section each night while there out

You're gonna have a psychological battle in 2025 Neil if you aren't careful
The issue is, you're a good widowhood cock racer, and I know why you want to race the hens
Thing is, if you're racing "Roundabout" then this will have an impact on your cocks

Roundabout is a system that suits the hens more than cocks
Yes I had cocks win 1st Fed on Roundabout, but the cocks performances were nothing like what they were on widowhood

Are you prepared to accept the cocks not performing as well as what they do on striaght widowhood?
Cos in my experience that happened to me and virtually every other loft i know that races straight "Rioundabout"

What if the hens still trap to there section though but just run into
The cocks whilst there out so the cocks still trap from loft flying to a empty shed
I do get what you mean though and maybe I should do one thing right

I always preferred to be Master of one rather than Jack of All

I think you are right, Mike.
The roundabout is trying to have 2 bob each way. You can race the hens but possibly at the expense of the cocks.
The exception can be yearling cocks, I believe. They do seem to respond very well to it at times, I think.
