I myself have never bought a bag of corn with the words moulting on it. Birds will moult on nearly ANY corn. I just feed the same corn when the birds are moulting. I think fanciers get too hung up on what the birds do naturally. I'd back my birds in any show against those who spend £s on 'special mixes' and supplements to help their birds though the moult.

There appear to be two schools of thought on barley, some swear by it and some don't. I did put some barley in the feed this winter because my pigeons are locked up at present and I didn't want them getting too fat. Apart from them hurling barley all over the floor in disgust, it made no difference.

Moulting mixtures are manufactured to supply the demand for moulting mixtures. If you write "Moulting Mix" on a bag, people will buy it. Moulting is a natural thing and pigeons will moult perfectly on their normal diet.
You have to remember that there are people who are more interested in the fast dollar than the fast pigeon

I wasn’t really looking at buying a branded moulting mix
It’s just about how barley much people use when moulting
I know a guy moulted on 75 pc barely 25pc seed and his birds were in outstanding condition
I ha e just never gone over 25 per cent barley to after the moult when I increase the barley

I have a lot of depurative left over and once I finish racing this will be used up along with any other seed I have left. Mainly Bucktons diet supreme, a bit of widowhood, a bit of conditioner and some all round mix.

Yes Neil. Bamfords Multitask. Feed it all year round. add a bit of barley various times of year.
When feeding birds have Bamfords Wizzard Heavy in pots in boxes and are fed as normal with Multitask with 10% barley (Bamfords re-cleaned, which is their cheap one).
Now rearing is finished it's Multitask & 20% barley. When moulting it's Multitask and any left over Wizzard Heavy mixed together plus a bit of linseed. Some years it's beans instead of the Wizzard.

I looked at the wizard heavy as my local farm had stopped growing beans and I normally have them 24/7 like you do once they hatch
