I used them ones in the mouse bait boxes as never sure if rats and mice will use same ones, so had 2 types
What i was told Buster, the rats carry the blocks back to their nest.
Not always Dev, I put mine on a bar inside the bait box so they can't but do place loose ones under some of the sheds which were eaten in situ I also had a piece of wire with some blocks on and staked them under the sheds by pushing a piece of cane into the ground and just looping wire over it
Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud :D :D

Right i see Buster, i would throw them under the sheds. They also went over the fence onto the railway behind the sheds.

I had trouble years ago when on the farm with rats in the bank behind the lofts. I filled all the holes in expect one. Poured milkstone remover followed by hypochloride. A acid mixing with a chlorine. Gives off chlorine gas which went through the burrows and gassed them. Just had to do that a couple of times a year. Plus fen traps beside chicken house.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

I use a coat hanger just put it through the holes and a garden cane to make them eat the blocks

Once I removed a porta cabin from a building site the rats were everywhere
But they had stored the blocks in old clay pipes that had been there when the cabin was put down
There were 100’s of blocks mate and still loads of rats as they were just keeping them and taking fresh each day when they were out down for them
