Just as an aside, my poor pigeons were in a chook shed, or for you blokes in the other hemisphere, a hen house

for half a year.
It was dusty, and while I tried to keep it clean it was not real good. Not good for me or them. Now they are back in the loft with the vent at the back on the floor, and the little stock shed with the aviary on the front, the pigeons are in abundant health again.
In fact I am doing a bit of work managing the 'argy bargy' going on as various pigeons make plays for other nest boxes etc.
It is, I think, an illustration of the importance of fresh air. Lots of it.

I got a thing about grit and mineral
I like the beyers grit mineral mixture always fresh never left in the loft
I don’t know if it makes much difference
Plus I like to lower the PH

I agree, Neil. I use a grit made in Melbourne, It's shell grit with pink minerals and a little charcoal added. I give them a little bit fresh every day.

My birds always adored "Matrix" from Gem.

I use to use the matrix but I shifted to beyers as I thought matrix was just stating to include more grit than mineral
Plus beyers I can buy in 20kg sack for £24 -£27

I reckon most fanciers are like me tried everything over the years, after spending what must be a small fortune I'm not convinced any of these potions make any difference. Possibly a multi vit once a week during racing, I think an amino acid supplement after a hard race might be helpful, maybe it just makes me feel better. In all honesty my birds never look better than when being fed 100% barley problem is I can't get them to race any real distance on it, which always leaves me scratching my head because the nutritional content of barley is as good as many other grains.

Steve
Have you thought about / tried adding a nutritional supplement to the Barley?

No pink mineral in the Beyers?
