Is the actual colour important in eyesign for judging if the birds good or bad or racer or breeder or is the formation of the eye what you look for and the main colour of no interest

I don’t pretend to be an eyesign specialist but used to use eyesign for my selections. I only use it for the selection of breeders and not racers. I have always liked the violet eye but don’t think the colour actually makes any difference. For me it is the formation of the eye. I like to see a nice round pupil. These will vary in size depending on the amount of light. Next working out from the pupil you have the inner circle, circle of adaption. This want to look like a washer placed over the pupil. It wants to be wide. It can be of different colours and can have varying degrees of dark shaded areas within it. For me my preference is for it all to be one colour without any shading. There could also be lots of waves, ripples within the circle. The more the better. The outer edge can be serrated, star like. The next circle is the circle of colouration. This circle should extend out to the outer edge of the eye. It can be a few different colours, violet, green, yellow, gold, green etc. This circle should again have ripples through it. The last circle is the iris. This is the circle that lays on top of the circle of colouration. It should look like hills and valleys, mountainous, laid on top of the circle of colouration. I don’t like to see this circle too full. Especially for breeding I like to see the circle of colouration showing through the iris in places and with a decent gap between the iris and the inner circle.
This is just my thoughts on eyesign and what I look for in it.

So what about colours ? Do
They matter at all
Only I have a white or pearl eye newly introduced I know nothing about eyes but is definitely different to the normal eyes I have
It’s very well bred sire has been 4th and 6th national plus won the fed twice
But the eye is very different
I purchased it as my pal recommended the sire previously who is a top top flier
Just looks odd amongst my pigeons eyes

A couple of types of eyes, i do really like and its the type i would select when buying a bird.

I really like the pearl eye for breeding. I think you’ll find that there is plenty of room in the iris.
No the colour doesn’t matter really as long as the colour is bright and sharp. I think the most important part is the inner circle’s width and depth and the room within the iris.
