Yes, pigeons fertility comes and goes with little rhyme or reason sometimesSpieker-Loft wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 9:53 pm Unfortunately he did breed his last youngster in 2021 a slatey hen. After that in 2022 he only fertilized 1 egg which unfortunately broke. It is quiet young to go infertile but i guess it hits some earlier then others
My "Assassin" was a 2000 cock and I retired him from racing in the summer of 2021
Naturally his first YB came out the Stock loft in 2002 and he was part of my Entire Clearance Sale in 2007. At that point he'd never missed a heartbeat. He went to Northern Ireland and failed to fill so I refunded the guy his money without question. As he was in Northern Ireland I got "Assassin" shipped to Gary Gordon and told him to keep him and he could keep anything he wanted from him if he filled. He never filled for him. He came back to the UK and went to George Litherland. That "Assassin" never filled another egg from the moment he left our loft. I sometimes wonder whether he'd have been ok if he'd have stayed "home" or was his time just up? We'll never know
I'm thankful that the last daughter he gave me in 2007 "Megs" is the G.Dam of "Champion Eddy" - so the legacy of "The Assassin" lives on.
