Done the experiment with my bag of barley, took 5/6 days. Cant believe how much 'plumper' it is.
Is that what the difference is with malting barley?
Does it make a difference if it is the last seasoms barley?

I imagine all vitamin amino acids decrease in time Dave
I germinated marking grade barley Tuesday evening it was germinating at 7am today
I germinated VL last year took 6 days and wasn’t cheap
Seed barley and malting grade barley grade has more amino acids and obviously a better seed quality and low fungus

that’s just to test its malting grade
To make it malted barley it then have to be dried as you say
So I wouldn’t do that as it would take to long for me as I use lots of barley

I think if it sinks and then after germinates in say 5 days with 80 per cent germination It’s good and we have done our bit
I use it in large amounts and for about 10 weeks it’s 80 per cent of my feed followed by 30 /40 percent in the summer so why I can make sure something if decent I might as it takes no time really then I can buy a few bags knowing it’s ok
