Due to the Up North combine and a Welsh combine being at Leicester our birds were finally liberated at 11.15 am in a brisk North West wind and plenty of sunshine. I was expecting them to be doing 60mph plus which did prove to be the case for the winners. My first bird arrived form her 124mile fly in 2hrs 15minutes doing 1619ypm but lost 3 minutes trapping so was clocked on 2hrs 18minutes doing 1589ypm. This little has paired to a cock bird in my small stock shed which doesn't have ETS on it so I have to catch the bird and take her to the main loft for clocking in so having been caught a few times now is reluctant to go in 🙁😁 my next bird arrived just after I'd clocked her and trapped ok doing 1571ypm both of these youngsters are bred off birds from our old club Secretary Roy Olliver who was a good and consistent distance flier, Andy has siblings of both of these birds in his Barcelona team this year. It was another decent race for returns and 9 of my 10 entries were home within 50 minutes of the first bird arriving, the last bird arrived just after 8 this morning.
There were only 5 members sending 108 birds this weekend with Alan Akemenkalns sending 61 of them, he really has his firing on all cylinders at the moment as he again took the first 6 places (which if we didn't only place the first 6 of each member would have been more like the first 10) with his winning bird taking just under 2hrs to cover the 124mile journey doing 1833ypm which again was nearly 200ypm infront of our next member to clock who was Martin Watson doing 1686ypm he had the next 3, followed by Danny Porter on 1623 and 1592 then me on 1589. I'm expecting the fed winners to be in Brighton and I think they could well be doing 2000ypm which considering Alan is our most westerly member makes his achievement even better so well done to him. In all it was another decent race, returns were a little patchy with a couple of our members having a fair few empty perches.
Two races to go so onwards and upwards 🤠
All the best.

Well done Trev. The birds are still coming well for you and returns are good. Nice to see you getting the ones from Roy.
