Actually, from what I am told, not that many people have the direct Jos Thone' pigeons in Australia. They are rather expensive apparently.
My grizzle cock has a pedigree that would be the equal of anything, full of National and International winners in every generation. He is a beautiful pigeon, if a little highly strung. I was lucky, he is out of a pair of eggs I was given.
His first babies are out of one of mine, Van Loon x Jansen and are totally brilliant. But there you are, in one generation, they aren't pure anything anymore.

Well said, exactly my point. Once in your loft they are your family/strain.

Actually, I had six Jos Thone' youngsters. The red boys from last year, and the blues and the grizzle from this year. All six of them are cocks. Not a hen among them.
So I have had to pair the four that are in the stock shed to my Jansen x Van loons, and the beautiful blue bar white flight is paired to the Melbourne hen the 600 mile pigeon.

I have to say, the first babies off the grizzle are perhaps the best youngsters I have ever raised.
Beautiful quality, and clever too.

Their mother is a quality hen too, a yearling from last year.
