It has been announced that of the 7th November all poultry and captive birds are to be kept in until further notice. Bird flu has spiralled again of late. I think we could find that we are going to be on lockdown for a very long time.
Mine are on lockdown now anyway due to Mrs Sparrow hawk


At least it's not our lively hoods at stake !! It is a particular concern to the commercial poultry farmers as their feed costs will go up, diseases among housed birds will become a higher risk once winter sets in and of course after 70 days housed they can no longer be classed as free range so their product value will decrease


The trouble is due to all migratory birds there is very little that can be done to prevent unless the bring in compulsory vaccinations which again increase production costs.
