Nice looking birds too Mark, there are still the odd fanciers around that stick to old lines like A&T Deacon with their Southwells !!! Cattrysse, Busscheart, Stichlebauts and of course Janssens are all still around today amongst others.
I have a few of the old Kirkpatricks too through Andy and the Late Des Coulter.

Went to Stock bred winners for me and others,his offspring still breeding winners
One of which Scored a 1st fed from Saints a 500 miler
He went again a year later and scored a 2nd Fed
Who said Sprinting family can’t fly Distance😉

Lovely looking bird Stu and a great record too mate, good to hear his line are still producing the goods. I think you are right mate on their day most decent birds with the right preparation can win from anywhere.

Look at the breeding of the Soontjens you will find the Vanloon in there they had the cross of 45 of Cattrysse also the Jansen blood with the half Fabre Barcelone winner ,I agree what a Fantastic bird best of luck for the future ,

That's so true.
I read many years ago that the Staf Van Reet's would fly 500 miles, if you made them, but they lost their speed if you did that.
The modern Jos Thone' pigeons are the result of crossing tough long distance pigeons with brilliant fast pigeons, to produce brilliant, fast long distance pigeons. I guess you can if you are a genius and have lots of pigeons to work with.
The days of the slow old plodder that gets home eventually are sort of over.
