To much Garlic takes the sheen off feathering, and makes the feathering dull. A couple of days per week should be fine.

Probably something I’ve done in the past. I used to give it every day of the week.

Thanks Devo I definitely think mine have been getting too much, I will still use it along side the garlic but just in smaller quantities.

I use the poultry one too, it isn't too expensive.

Ah, now there's the thing.
If anything the acidity seems to activate the garlic. I crush one medium or two small cloves with the flat of the knife and put it in a bottle of just lukewarm water. After 3 or 4 hours I strain the garlic clove out of the water. You can smell the garlic in the water. Then I add a tablespoon of ACV. Within minutes the smell really starts to get stronger. So I have to dilute it to 4 or 5 litres or it is too strong. One clove and one spoonful of vinegar!
As I said recently, both garlic and ACV are very good. Combine them and they have something that seems to be very beneficial.
I always remove the cloves after they have been soaked to release the juice. If left in the water they are just organic matter starting to decompose.
I plan to do it 3 times a week. Fresh water on the other days.

Hi Murray
If I used ACV most days but say on a Thursday night chucked a clove into a drinker crushed with the ACV then removed the water say Saturday lunchtime after the lofts cleaned out would this be safe or would the garlic go off ? I stopped using garlic in the summer due to this worry some years ago but did do this the last 3 weeks but the temperature is obviously colder so I thought it would be ok ?

I would be wary Neil.
It would be nearly 48 hours without being changed. It would be getting pretty strong and my worry would be that the birds would not be drinking enough. Even when it's cold they need to drink.
That's why I tend to put the solution in during the afternoon and tip it out and rinse the drinkers next day. After about 12 to 15 hours it can really start to smell.
If I were you I'd put it in Friday night and change it Saturday afternoon.
