We were going into town to do some shopping, so I assured him it would be no inconvenience at all.

Actually, although it is slap bang in the middle of nowhere, it is not far from anywhere. Bendigo is about 40 miles. Dunolly, a nice little town is about 12 miles.
Maryborough, with a bit over 8000 people is another 12 miles past that. We do most of our shopping there.
The other direction, St Arnaud is about 25 miles.
After spending 15 years at the same address and at the same job in Bendigo, it is refreshing looking around a part of the country we had hardly ever looked at.

This morning I went outside and found hardly any smoke in the air. The wind must have changed during the night.
Last night the smoke was very thick. The bush fire 'watch and act' warning area has moved closer to us overnight and is now only about 20 miles away in a straight line. The fires which are not under control are a lot further away than that so we should be safe.

My son and his coming out there next weekend with his girlfriend and her family, Cath's Dad is from Australia so they have family there.
They are starting off in Brisbane then visiting Mooloolaba, Townsville, Magnetic Island then Port Douglas in Cairns/Great Barrier reef. I'm afraid my knowledge of Australia is pretty hopeless so I have no idea where any of these places are lol

Stay safe mate, I hope they get the fires under control soon Thinking about it i could see how it would be useful when I put the loft back up and add an aviary. Catherine wants a couple of chooks so i will build a little hen house. I plan to build a train layout, as I sold the last one.
So today we went and got one. Nice bit of kit for GBP 72.50.
