How many do you have left now from the 24 or so ?
I have lost 20 percent but it’s strange as I 50 percent are lost from gifts from people who wanted me to try them out which was kind of them

Much the same for me Neil, most of the birds I've bred from my original stock are still here, it's the new introductions I'm losing !!

Kind of people to give them but I gave 8 lovely babies away to make room , you live and learn but the people meant well
Is it being born in the loft ? Maybe that’s why one lofts have such massive loses

So Neil, you dont know a lot about Olr. but you make a statement over OIR. loses?

One thing we know for sure George is that OLR (especially in the UK) have what most reasonable minded fanciers would class as horrific losses

The day after liberation
The RPRA OLR is now down to just 43 birds


And that was more than 24 hrs after being libbed

To put it into context they started with 547 birds

From the 21 I bred and from the 14 I started training after disposing of 4 and losing 3 off the loft I have 7 left. So a third of what I originally bred or half of what I started training.

I think I have seen enough information on uk one lofts to make my mind up
Maybe you think like the examples Mike just posted are decent I call them terrible

I’m thinking of this week and next then stopping as that will be 5 races and there started this week to show there naturals

I’m not racing this weekend Neil as I would only have had 1 to send and don’t want to send with the combine. I will send them all again next weekend with the 3 counties. They will go through to the end unless bare around the ears. At present they are looking fine.

The "UK Premier OLR" started with 1037 birds

They were certainly down to 378 on the 9th September

I have no interest in these races as it’s a different hobby to what I enjoy
I could see why someone not racing would breed birds for gold rings races and things for others as that’s still a similar thing to what I enjoy
but I do seem to read one loft races here have massive losses but Devo may be right as I don’t know much about them just what I read in returns like Mikes posted
