Around the time i started my dad bought a Son from Ares an absolute top racer in germany wining 2x1 against 10k ~ pigeons and was superstar candidate in dortmund 2010 and it was just a stunning bird his whole appearance specially his color. ever since then i set out to try to have the best grizzle bloodlines in my loft. dont get me wrong i still have alot of blues and checks etc aswell and if a pigeon is appealing to me i get it regardless of its color. But my main objective and goal that i set out of to try to have the best grizzle bloodlines that i can get my hands on in my loft. so far this has been working very well for me and for the 3rd year in a row out of id say a 50/50 selection of blues/checks and grizzles. 3x a grizzle was the best performer in my loft.
If your hearts in grizzles your enjoy them more
Like me with my boring colours I know if I had grizzles I just wouldn’t feel the same in the loft
We are all different

At the end of the day Leon it's your choice and your money, so if you have a theory/policy that you're happy with then progress that.

I can appreciate both you and Neil are at different ends of the colour spectrum chart, yet you still have your "preferences"

Me, I had none, I didn't give a monkey's chuff what the colour was. All I cared about was "how good is it"

A theoretical example

Say I was into 600 miles racing and I admired "Wingdown" - one of the greatest extreme distance racers the UK has ever seen

I'd try my best to try and acquire a very good Direct Daughter of him (Gavin on here has one actually).

Now, on my search if I found one, and she was proven, then that's job done for me.

Yes I'd have an interest in the Dam, but "Wingdown" would never be mated to a rag

So, if she was direct "Wingdown" and was proven I would be interested in her.

Of course age and price are a factor - but I wouldn't give a monkeys chuff if she was Red, Black, Blue cheq, Dark or any other colour

If she was direct, and proven, and from him to me that would be job done.

But of course, we're all different

No Neil, we all like what we like

I was sent a pigeon a few months ago from a friend of a friend and he said "what do you think of that?"

I told him "it's ugly as f^^k"

He said "I've just paid 200 quid for that"

I said "do you like it?"

He said "Yes I do, it's a son of xyz"

So I said "Well that's fine then as long as you like it that's all that matters then"

Funnily enough he's not spoken to me since

But I can't be wrong. He asked me my opinion and my opinion was what I gave. It's only an opinion.

Well worth waiting for Leon, your Dad sent me a photo of Little Rico. I must say from my visit to your loft and home. I knew this was going to be a quality loft of the future, I know I wont be wrong the way you are moving forward. Simply the best in the near future. Well done to you and your Dad.

Good luck with him Leon

I still think you're mad to offload his progeny into your competitors loft - but I understand why your reasons for doing so
