Hi Devo.
I will name one of the round of babies "Golden Leo" and one "Devo" :D
I have 4 pairs on eggs which will hatch in the next week. I know which I think are the very best, let's wait and make sure they are perfect, and they will be your pigeons.

Devo1956 wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:15 am Have a great day Murray, if you get time. Do a write up on how your breeding is going please, also could you breed a youngster and give it the name of Golden Leo,
Okay, for Devo, and anyone else who may be interested, a quick update on how the breeding is going.

Road runner Heremans & Trillian Baby Heremans / Jannsen.
Pair of youngsters hatched 28/09/24. Going to David Cox.
They are starting to look like mating again.

Slate cock Heremans x Red Blaze Van den Bulck/ Jannsen & Inbred Heremans Pied hen.
On eggs laid 05 and 06/10/24
Hen is a grumpy little thing :D

Red Jos Thone cock 1300 & inbred Heremans hen.
On eggs laid 08 & 10/10/24

005.JPG
Red Jos Thone cock 1299 & Pied Jos Thone Hen 745/12
Very old Thone' hen I'd like to get one round from mated to the red boy. Last round were clear.
003.JPG
Grizzle Thone & Billion Dollar baby.
On eggs laid 06 & 07/10/24
The two best bred pigeons in the loft. The Baby is a daughter of top breeder Hawkeye and her mother is a grand daughter of Kittel! The grizzle is inbred to all of Jos Thone's national and International winners.
The cross might work or it might not. The grizzle lost his mate and the Baby wouldn't pair up with anything else, so we will see how it goes.

Inbred Heremans cock and Pied hen daughter of the Billion Dollar Baby.
On eggs laid 08 & 10/10/24
The Heremans cock is the nest brother of the hen mated to the 1300 red Thone'. His father was a top young bird, won 3 races in 3 weeks as a yearling. Paired to his own sister. I got the pair of youngsters for stock.
I wanted to pair him to the Billion Baby, but she wouldn't look at him. So he's paired to her daughter, a late bred I kept when we shifted.
They've got a nest box but nothing would do but they wanted to nest on the floor in the corner.

The last pair are a bit of a mixed bag.
The cock is by the white flight Thone' out of the Melbourne hen. He had all the tosses as a youngster and never put a foot wrong. He was simply a beautiful youngster and I kept him because I could.
The hen is a half Heremans half Gaby that I raised from a pair of eggs I was given. Lovely hen.
Probably not what most people would consider ideal, they are a bit of everything, but a quality pair of pigeons and I am happy to give them a go.
On eggs laid 09 & 10/10/24.

She's a bossy thing, was going to attack the camera!

As you can see, I am on track to have a nice round of babies hatching in about a week. Some will have Breeder's Plate rings on and go to Horsham, some will go to D. Cox, some will go to another Bendigo flyer.

I will look at keeping some from the next round, as it looks like I can join in the racing with Bendigo invitation club. They are racing from west next year, so I will be on the line but very much the shortest flyer. It'll be a bit of fun anyway.

All looking good now Murray, things moving along for you and the birds. Nothing better than just getting up, having a cup of tea. Then straight into the back garden, and walking down to the sheds. The birds come alive when they hear you, and the day begins. Thank you for update.

it's warm and sunny in St Arnaud today, 27 degrees just before lunch. It's beautiful!
I love being warm, just love it. So the last couple of days I have been outside pretty much all day long. I've been pottering in the garden a little bit, the veggies are taking off!

Lots of seedlings coming up. That's a passionfruit vine overtaking the area!

Tomatoes are flowering already
