It may be that my pond is 5 feet deep so the water at that depth will be a bit warmer. The pump is near the bottom of the pond in the slightly warmer water. The pump will pump 11,000 lph. So the water does move quite fast.Buster121 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 8:29 pmMine been running and the air stones but had to turn off couple days ago when it was -7or8 as freezing coming out of filter boxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 7:15 pmIt did get up to 6c here, but not all good. We had some drizzle, which because the ground was so cold it froze. The frost did disappear but now down to 1c. If it freezes the roads will be lethal.
My main pond hasn’t frozen at all but I have kept all the air stones going and the pumps and filters running so the water has been constantly moving. The small wildlife pond has frozen with a good couple of inches of ice. Roxanna has been breaking a hole in it so the wild birds can drink. Hopefully yours will thaw out in the next couple of days.
Todays weather.

Minus again today, to say it was supposed to be getting warmer after last Wednesday all that money and they still cannot get it correct

A different morning here this morning. The wind has turned South bringing in warm air. All the frost has virtually gone. +2c. Light rain at present. Supposed to get to 12c overnight tonight. We now have a weather warning for the next 3 days of possible flooding

. Rather have the cold and frost.

Been out and about today. Got up to 10c but a horrible wet and windy day. There is a lot of surface water around. I think this is made worse by the fact that the ground is solid from all the freezing weather under the surface so the rain is just running off. Our small pond I thought had thawed out. But when I put my fingers in it about an inch down it was still solid ice.
