Terrible thunderstorms and very heavy rain here this afternoon. Temperature dropped from 26c to 19c in under half an hour. Birds out loving a bath in the rain.

No peregrine or hawk issues doing that Andy
If I did that the sparrow hawk would be having a feast here
I can only bath inside the aviary must be lovely to see your birds in the garden with no fear particularly with so many problems in your area

I don’t have to much trouble most of the year around home but do lose the odd ones. As you know I lost 2 of my best cocks towards the end of the old bird season around home and 3 old hens earlier in the year. When it’s raining, especially like it has today the hawks aren’t hunting. I would be more likely to have one of the local cats take one.

Your lucky mate be a blood bath here I see sparrow hawks every day now
Only break we get is May to early August
Plus we have the peregrine now
Must be nice to enjoy birds in the garden like you do
Mine are in the sky or in the shed apart from 2 weeks every summer when the babies are weaned even then I sit guard
It’s relentless here

We do have a pair of peregrines around Stourhead less than 5 miles away. Often see them going over. We also have resident sparrow hawks but generally just go for all the small birds that are around.
