Ive often thought lucky you when I read you select from so many at the end of the season, up here unless their exceptionally poor your just happy to keep what ya left with. We've lost some very good pigeons training and around the loft over the years I feel for you because I know what it's like. Very few if anyone trains on their own up here now during the day. I'd say we're about the only loft who still train our youngsters on our own to 40 miles. There's no doubt the peregrines will be what finishes this sport. At the min we've 6 hens finished for the season all in single boxes with hawk injuries. Dust yourself down and keep going, you seem a good fancier you'll get a performance out of what you have left. How do you take 4 of the first 5 in the fed send them back next week and never see 2 again it’s all new to me
If I have 18 cocks normally I get 15/16 to pick from in July
This year I had 21 cocks I have 14 left 2 of them are finished 4 fed winners gone before 150 miles
What’s done me is only the 2nd toss since April mate not like I’m up the road dailyAnthony webster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 1:52 pm I've had it this Yr Neil as well, I've never trained so short now ,chin up pal it's part of pigeons now ,,
I've had brilliant races after a bad toss that's why before a big race I go different direction, make em think put there head gear on .u be OK pal .NeilA wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 3:11 pmWhat’s done me is only the 2nd toss since April mate not like I’m up the road dailyAnthony webster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 1:52 pm I've had it this Yr Neil as well, I've never trained so short now ,chin up pal it's part of pigeons now ,,
I thought miss a race and train twice / treat in the 14 days all ready for Berwick as that’s the one to win here as you know
It would be crap to happen at any time but the day before marking does me in I still have my hens but the big hitters are in the cocks team and 58 the main boy
The hens are something of trial for me this year
Like Goose says just got to get in with it and the one thing I have is that he got home and escaped so he will go to stock now
I will send two old cocks and two or three yearlings cocks that need to do something or there gone anyway plus the yearling hens and see what’s there for Perth in 2 weeks
Chin up!! It’s unfortunately part of the game now so frustrating. Hopefully he will repay you in the stock shed.
Right Niel, i understand mate. We were always asking the training transporter to change location. otherwise they were sitting waiting for the release.NeilA wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 12:28 pmThing is Devo I don’t train I only went Sunday and yesterday as I didn’t send Saturday that’s first toss since AprilDevo1956 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:57 am I know its hard when training the birds, and time is important. Do members change times of training the birds? i know if you're using a training transporter its a set time for pick up. But when training yourself, i think it is much better to change times and location. Just my thoughts on when i trained my birds.
I thought it would be ok as I was t expecting it plus it was 430pm I just thought they had all day to hunt and if I’m honest I didn’t really expect it as this area has not really been hit like others
It makes senseDevo1956 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 6:41 pmRight Niel, i understand mate.
