Have you proof of this Mike? Pox has never really been a problem for fanciers, the last outbreak in my area was in 1980. Outbreaks are mostly now caused by fanciers vaccinating with the live vaccine and NOT confining their birds in the loft until they stop shredding the virus.

Yes
Can you elaborate on the outbreak Mike?

Probably caused by a fancier vaccinating against it.
King - I found this comment (above) ill informed and highly deflammatory

A friend of mine has a cousin who races pigeons
He contacted my friend to see if he could help what was wrong with his birds
My friend doesn't live all that close to him so he sent him a couple of videos across
On receipt of these he could tell it was pox
This is in the OB team that have been racing this year and won 6 x 1st
Only thing vaccinated for was paramyxo in March
The doors have been shut and he's now letting it runs its course

But they could of mixed with birds who had got it, think that is what King was saying and not inferring anything else

Mike the comment was neither ill informed or highly deflammatory. I said 'probably caused' as any loft can only get Pox either by bringing in an already infected bird, or a race bird bringing it home. So somebody else in the Club or Fed MUST have it also. They too can only have got it the same two ways. And since Pox is very rare there is the 3rd option. That is somebody has vaccinated and NOT kept their birds in while they are shedding the virus.

Yes Buster, torally agree

Your reply is much more sensible than King's

There's not much that I agree with that King posts really

I invariably don't challenge because I tell myself it's an open forum and we all have our ways of doing things and opinions

On this occasion I thought his post ill informed and deflammatory to the fancier in question - so I didn't move on on this occasion
