Richard Goodier is in the 3 counties Mike, so I’ll be racing against him.

Richard's a competent flier so I'm sure you'll know he's racing on a Saturday

Having always raced from down South turning pigeons from East to West or West to East then having to turn the South over the channel. Where I am now, 35 miles inland, is the furthest from the coast I have been. In Worthing we were only a half mile from the coast. There we used to fly North and then turned them South for the nationals.
The first season after Brexit we couldn’t race from over the channel. I was just racing with the BICC and the CSCFC. The same birds raced from Guernsey, south, then Penzance, SW, then Berwick, north.

Congratulations - You've answered your own question then

When I flew the French races and I only raced south but trained north from yearlings stages
I sent once inland then picked 4 France races a year
In 3 combine races I had 3/4/15 in the 3 races (4 feds)
In bbc I had 4/12/18 etc in about 5 races
There was others positions but like 35th etc so not important

I never tried sprinting changing routes and now I train on my line for sprinting in fed races

For them kind of races would you think about a family that’s competed in the really short races they have in Belgium where they race 60-80 miles weekly not the sprint birds we have here that over generations have become pigeons to fit our programme
I think you're right Neil yes

If you're smart you look at the programme, and the races you're interested in, and apply birds that are best for that role

For instance, Mark Bulled and Mark Gilbert are both super successful at the Distance. Both are highly accomplished sprinters too. But Mark Bulled doesn't try and sprint with his "Die Hard" pigeons, and Mark Gilbert doesn't sprint with his "Golden Barcelona" pigeons

Why?

Simple reason - They aren't fast enough and they know that too - that's why they house birds from other sources for that particular job

It’s almost a mini national every week with the 3 counties. It is a club in its own right with a very big radius. As you say Neil John Angwin will fly 100 miles further than me. The race is split into 4 sections so we get a section and an open result each week. I’m not sure of the number of members but I would think it’s in excess of 200. It is a very progressive club and we have already banked in the region of £5,000 before the season has even started from an auction and a bonus ball competition over 10 weeks.
Last year as Glastonbury FC we flew part of the season with them but as we weren’t officially members we couldn’t race only send as trainers. A couple of our members were in the Sedgemore club as well as ours so did race properly with them. They did win a couple of races and our winning velocities from the trainers would have also won a couple of times. But some weeks we would be quite a way off. It is very dependent on the wind and weather as to where the winners are.
It could be quite an exciting season.
The geraldy transporter and trailer are being re done with the 3 counties name on it. This is being paid for by Tumley Lofts.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
