These are my pairs in the widowhood section.

Most pairs have youngsters under them now. The oldest pair are 6 days old today. Just 6 more eggs due to hatch over the next 3 days. So far only one egg has failed to hatch, so very pleased. Should give me 21 youngsters 9 days between oldest and youngest.
That's good news Andy, glad they've hatched well for you bruv, hopefully you'll have a few champions amongst them

They all look well, nice and settled.

that's very good Andy my problem most are new pairings and some cocks may be looking for the hens they had
Yes that could be part of it George, you only one bird go upset the whole loft.
The wind we had wouldn't have helped either, that does upset the birds and can stop them sitting properly.

bought set of 4 nest boxes £120 used just the one nest taken so thought i would put a shelf up straight away a hen goes to it followed by 2 cocks
it is barley straw from last year Trev
Just goes to show they aren't materialistic George

They know what they want lol, you can force them in time to go where you want them too but they are much happier if they make up their own minds.
That Straw has kept its colour well mate

Not sure why they wouldn’t use the nest boxes George. I have had the odd ones nest on the floor but usually because they have youngsters still in the nest from a previous round.
