You are right, all of this passed me by being out of it so long. “Euro Diamond” looks incredible. To give some context, the last ‘famous’ pigeon I recall from my day was de Bliksem that the Denys brothers sold to Louis Masserella I think.MIL wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:28 pm Sorry Pete
I'm a bugger for assuming people know what I know, but if you've been away from the game you might not know this
"Euro Diamond" is one of the best pigeons in the last 25 years
A great racer he's gone on to breed numerous 1st National and International winners
Here was his racing record at International level
He was some pigeon
“Euro Diamond” who won 100% prizes with 7/7 in the International races:
1st National Carcassonne 2.719 p. 06 2nd International Carcassonne 10.323 p. 06
3rd National Perpignan 1.452 p. 06 5th International Perpignan 14.900 p. 06

5th National Perpignan 2.020 p. 05 12th International Perpignan 17.654 p. 05

Thanks Gav. That’s good insight.goose1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:02 pm First thing I would say with distance pigeons, in my opinion is you've got to have speed in there. Putting slow pigeons to slow pigeons just breed slow pigeons. Since we went into the distance pigeons we haven't really been able to test them as we would have liked due to covid and Brexit. But this year we got back into France for only the second time in 5 years we were first and second combine (combine entry was low) but we were liberated with the Scottish National Flying Club, were around 28 mile short of their boundary but had we been able to compete our winning hen would have won the national by 18ypm our second bird flying 13hrs 53 mins would have been 6th national. Both these pigeons were 75% of what you'd call distance blood but crossed in with faster pigeons. In fact the winner was 5th combine 189 mile 3 weeks before the win at 497 mile. To me no matter what the distance you want racing pigeons. Due to not being able to test them at the distance for a few year we started to cross them with some faster pigeons we brought in and feel we now have pigeons we can work with and we will hopefully be pushing on to Pau NFC at 800 mile.

1th of November 1 this year the final positions in the Pioneer Club were decided in Beijing (China). This elite club - where the cream de la creme of the Chinese pigeon Sport crosses the swords, is widely as the biggest competition in the world, and certainly has the highest prize money.
The most important and prestigious title there is undoubtedly the Ace Pigeon, which was won in 2018 by James Huang, a Taiwanese businessman, based in Shanghai and in the Pioneer represented Club by Taiwanese top fancier Chen Yong-Shan, who races the pigeons bred by James.
The Ace Pigeon winner 18-791 was renamed "James's Legend", (which he deserves without a doubt) because never before has such an exceptional pigeon flown in the Pioneer Club; Four weeks in row in the top prizes in four flights of 321 miles (500 kms.) in different conditions (which to the contributed in the decrease of basketed pigeons). On his own, "James's Legend" won 7 cars throughout the competition, including a Mercedes G63 worth ca. - $150,000. - Yeah.
The Besides Ace Pigeon, also James won the title "Champion Loft" Pioneer 2018, and in total he received the keys of no less than 13 different cars!
On November 20 of this year the auction of the auction of the Prize winning pigeons from the Pioneer Club took place, and after a long bidding battle, James could take home his ace for the unimaginable of 22 million Chinese yuan (renminbi), works out at a cool €2,788,000... An absolute world record!
