There's a guy online giving a demo on the use of both and he says that it is calcium carbonate but the demo is for another use.
I have googled several descriptions of hyraulic lime but none come up with a distinctive description. I dont want to rule it out as a possibility when it is available locally.

No I had never heard of it I new the other one as builders lime and lime stone / calcium carbonate as gardening lime

Ordinary lime, calcium carbonate, is very safe but the fine dust in the air can make the feathers dry. I would use it sparingly and pick up any loose stuff.

I always thought that a lot of the problems with pigeon fanciers lung was caused through using lime, but I guess any powder used too freely would cause problems. Nonetheless, I will go for the safe option. It will be used very sparingly and only on damp days.

Just as an aside, I am slowly dying from emphysema. The lungs, they are not so good.
So, I was happy when the lung specialist lady did tests and said the pigeons aren't going to make it any worse and I should enjoy them.
My darling wife may have been less pleased
By all means, be sensible, keep the air as fresh as you can in the shed. But just keep enjoying them

No I was a smoker for years, gave up 30 years ago, but the damage was done. In fact the lung lady reckons the pigeons don't make much difference in my case. And I do keep the loft clean and the good ventilation keeps it quite dust free.
And it will shorten my life, no doubt, but I'm nearly 70 and a lot of the time I feel good. I can't do as much as I used to but that's probably true of most 70 year olds!
Don't feel sorry for me, I'm lucky. There's always someone worse off
