That’s a pain for you Trev but I know what it’s like you can’t do much when the hens set on your loft to she goes to nest
I had a peregrine hit my hens from training Friday I have one with her secondaries missing and one missing
I just finished putting the hens in baskets now to go north I hope to have hem up about 630/40
It’s a pain as just taking them 12 miles south to work was saving me the job of going north before work then driving back to work but the strikes put me off that route
Still another two weeks and training over for the cocks and hens will just get one a week to keep them ready to replace a cock in the team

Nice one mate
Sounds perfect timing
First thing this morning it was decent but now it’s like a November day cold and dead cloudy sky
Tomorrow looks much better after 1pm so soon as I get home from work I will be gone no point missing the nice days even if it’s 10-15 miles only

Mike/ Neil, we don't know when released from any given race point which way or direction the pigeons take, my question is to you both say you went training say 16 mls + on a line for the first race point & never went further on distance & stuck at the same point training, do you think they would try to get as near to this point from any given liberation & then head for home as they possibly recognise the area location, or if you went 16+ mls in a cone shape fanning out would they take a different line back depending on wind direction etc, not sure if this post makes any sense to you both, I think I've confused myself overthinking this.
Regards Dave.

Yes for sprinting train them on your line so in there heads 5 miles wide of that isn’t what they should be doing
Cone shape from 35 plus miles I understand

I wouldn't like to be straying off line when we're talking just sprinting

Sprint races are A-B dead fast, straight line, fastest and shortest way home. No fannying about.

Yes you're building fitness, but more important you're also building confidence too

Smart pigeons will naturally find the fastest way home though

On many occasion I've seen 70% of the team come bang on line but they've been a couple of minutes behind the first birds back to the loft

That's because they've fought the wind too much to hit the line.

The smarter pigeons will nip and tuck and work with the wind rather than fight it
