Trev do not forget when gets hot the birds if they land on it will get sticky as it sort of melts in the heat, see if you can find some plastic, old felt or something to drop over it until you can repair roof
Cheers Buster

yes I had thought about that and will put something on it when it warms up

Good advice Buster. With bitumen paint you canβt do more than one coat or swipe with a brush until dry. Being effectively a glue if you try to brush over wet bitumen it will pull it off.

Well the bitumen kept the loft dry for one day but unfortunately the worst part of the roof succumbed to the rain we had again last night. I should really have got out there yesterday to give it a second layer as I thought this could possibly happen and the instructions did say that further coats may be required once the first coat is completely dry.
I did find out that it peels straight off again if you try to brush over it more than once

Oh Trev, that's a shame.
I did hope it would do the job for you.
Back to the drawing board.

I have said it before, I think the loft starts with the roof. Start there and work down. If the shed is dry, that's 9 out of 10 right there.
My heart aches for Trev. Going out to find the shed wet again because the roof leaks, very frustrating.

Thanks as always for your comments, advice and support guys

I've done a bit more patching up today so we will see what happens over the next few days.
I will completely replace the roof later in the year as long as I can keep it dry for now
