Mike, I wouldn't ever question any of your posts, so please for give me for asking ( just trying to broaden my own very limited knowledge) - it seems to me that vinegar in the bath water could have a detrimental effect on the feathers. Would you use it as a regular treatment or just on medicinal occasions?

That'd be the condice crystals George - permanganese phosphate or something like that.
Me dad used to use it in the fish tank if the fish ever got whitespot lol.

I used these many years ago, they were good at the time. But other products took over.

Does anyone use Garlic in the bath water.....?
I'm afraid I'm lazy lol so use Nutrimin with Garlic in it, I only use it in their water, I personally don't put anything in their bath water.

Ask away Dave I don't mind
Historically I always gave salt in rhe water.
One day George Litherland was at our house and saw me filling the bucket of water for the birds. I reached for the salt and he tapped me on the shoulder, winked at me and said "Put vinegar in there youth not salt".. I saw him do this at his own lofts in later years too. Now George was the best all round pigeon man I ever met (and I've met some bloody good ones) so his words were enough for me - and to be honest I rarely found any mite on any of my birds - and their conditioning was second to none. My birds would glide through your fingers. They bathed in vinegar every week for years. Just normal malt vinegar. I never measured it either - just a splosh between two buckets of water

I looked at that Trev before I changed back to ACV I just couldn’t understand how the garlic juice worked as it’s a very reasonable priced product
It says garlic juice but I couldn’t understand how that works price wise as you don’t get loads of juice from a bulb
Is there other garlic additives in it do you know like a flavouring ?

Aah thanks so much for that little snippet Mike - my birds will get a 'splosh' or two of the vinegar in their baths from now on.

When birds bathe one of the first things they invariably do is have a drink (even if there's ample access to a drinker in the loft).
Vinegar never hurt our performances put it that way.
Numerous RPRA Award winners were brought up bathing in vinegar every week
