Yep. A big V8 petrol, and with a trailer on you wouldn't get even that. But if you have the money, they are brilliant.
A lot of people use things like Toyota 4x4's or Nissan Patrols with the big turbo diesels in them.
We aren't just going 50 or 100 miles here. People often do a trip around Australia.
And, even though fuel is expensive, it's still the cheapest bit. People spend $200,000 and upwards on a high quality caravan which can go off sealed roads, and a strong tow vehicle. They drive around the Continent, and after a major service they could turn around and do it again! Nissan Patrol.jpg
