Same race point, same pigeons, clear day. Pigeons missing everywhere. David had 20 arrive in the first bunch. Only 3 of them were his. He was well down by last night and a couple of blokes got none.
Apparently there is a a lot of solar flare activity. I have never given much notice to it, but it's a hell of a coincidence that the pigeons are losing their compass on both ends of the earth on the same day.
Some more investigation is required I think.

The late Bill Cowell, Bilco, mentioned the solar flares many times several years ago. He used to write for the pigeon journals. He lived just around the corner from me in later life and I spoke to him on several occasions regarding this. I wasn’t racing myself at the time though.

My local club 3 sent 18 from Coventry up Friday (Same K Index number 2.2 as yesterday) the winner there made 1419. The other York club 2/27 the winner made 1509 and same lad was 1st & 2nd Barkstone Ash Fed 22/346. The Fed top 30 were 1509 to 1285 looked like a decent race.
So although a different day, it wasn't the K Index to blame.

I asked Bill to explain why his theory didn't explain how 2 Feds close together could have very different races. The UK from the Sun is a very small area, if the K Index did effect pigeon racing it would effect EVERY Fed in the UK. But it doesn't. Yesterdays K Index was very low at just over 2. (9 being very high).

That’s a awful drop in velocity for 30 birds

It's a small Fed over a decent area. Whilst your right it's not a trapping match, it's a decent race compared to what the Fed and other Feds have been having.
There are only 3 types of YB race. Excellent, Decent or Disaster.
