I'm learning some new things. You never stop learning new things.
In the past I've always sort of looked to breed three rounds in August, September and October. Finishing up in November.
( Remember I'm in the Great South Land).
This year it's all gone pear shaped, obviously, and I've got big babies, small babies, medium sized babies all baking in the mid summer heat. And doing fine!
Because I am retired and an early riser I can keep them clean and fed and fresh watered, all the time. I'm having a ball
I sent all of the youngsters off the first couple of rounds to other lofts. That was the plan. The first round I kept are 7 to 9 weeks old.
They are starting to really fly very hard. But it tells on them. They are in beautiful order, glowing pink in the flesh, vibrant eyes, perfect feathers, and very bright.
But.
When I picked them up this afternoon, I found that they weigh, nothing.

Flying in this heat, they haven't an ounce on them.
