Wet and cold tonight.
Catherine and I are going out for dinner for her birthday, it's a pity the weather has packed up after a nice spell of fine weather.
I am lucky to have a good loft, I got the feed ready and quickly cleaned out the loft when I got home from work, then put the lights on and fed them. They had a day inside today, the first one in a long time. When I took the feed away just before they were all warm and settled down.
I did leave a flap open when I went to work, so they could go out into the sputnik. Of course there were a few which thought standing out in the cold was a good idea.

Took the other half and an old bird out today. It seems I have dropped another one. But it might turn up tomorrow.
The loft was pretty full when I started training, and losing a few is not a disaster.
But I still wait until dark, just in case the late one get's home......

Had a funny weekend with the training.
Took half of them plus an old cock on Friday. Had two out, the old cock turned up Saturday morning.
Took the other half out on Saturday, was three out again. One of them arrived in the rain mid morning yesterday with the late bred missing from Friday. Another turned up when the rain stopped. It was dry and shiny. It's been sheltering somewhere close to home.
So after all that I am down one, a mealy hen from last year that didn't race. She was partner for one of the cock birds so I left her.

I haven't trained the pigeons since last Saturday. One of my staff took a long overdue week off, so I have been doing some different hours which has made training them difficult. The weather was rubbish anyway.
I don't mind really, they have had a lot of training. Some of them have probably had 25 tosses, from three different directions. It might sound excessive, but after I dropped the ones that weren't equipped for the job, I have a quality team of young birds. And they need to be good to make the grade here in 'falcon alley'.
So, Catherine has been letting them out at about 3 pm and I have been putting them away when I get home. I have been pouring the feed into them and they are flying very well.
When I was driving up the road this afternoon there was a big mob of pigeons way up high and going very fast. After a long day at work, it lifted my spirits!
Young birds, old birds, stock birds, all up there going flat out. 10, 11 and 12 year olds enjoying why God gave them wings.

Good to hear the birds are flying well Muzza and as you say are enjoying it too 
It looks like you have certainly been putting the time/miles into them, how long before you start racing them now and are you any nearer to moving ??
