I posted a picture of the grizzle Thone' when he was a young bird/yearling on another thread.

He was a pigeon that grew from the head back.
Now he is a beautiful pigeon. I don't think I have ever had a pigeon that looks better, handles better, is more intelligent, and has a better pedigree.
He also had all the tosses, from half a mile, when he was a tiny wee bloke, to the last one before the first race and never did a thing wrong.
He nearly went to the first smash race that year and became falcon food.
He's also paired to the Billion dollar baby, their youngsters are popular.
So when he wandered out and went for fly on Wednesday, I was sort of okay with it, and sort of panicking. He spent the night out and appeared beside me on the ground the next morning.
I'm getting these things homed, but it's shortening my life

Working with the birds after you move mate, and your health conditions. You must work at your own pace, and try stay fit. without you the birds will not be the same. Take it easy Murry and enjoy your life with them.

I had a wee sleep in this morning, it was 6.55 am before Banjo woke me up.
I gave the boys their breakfast and had a half cold cup of coffee before getting the youngsters out at 7.30.
I cleaned out and came in and made a coffee and a piece of toast. It was 8.30 and I figured they would be back in a minute. I took my eye off the shed, 10 minutes later I went out and they were all in

In the two minutes I was talking to Catherine they' have arrived back and put themselves in.
Good babies

So, after the youngsters had eaten their fill and settled down I let seven of the old birds out. Grizzle Thone', Billion Baby, White Flight Thone' Diver, etc. I was pleased to see them enjoy a fly around the place then go back in.
We are, in fact, winning.
They all went back in except the Billion baby. She was poking around in the vegetable garden, going, "I can hear you, I'm just ignoring you".
But I know how to fix her,
I got the grit bucket out and gave it a shake. She was hanging off my arm with her head in the bucket. She's like a drug addict

It's a funny old thing. Imagine a green woke climate warmist enthusiast.
Well, I am the exact opposite.
Yet, in our big back yard, we are growing lots and lots of vegetables. After a few months of eating food that grows out of the ground with no chemicals, we are both feeling better than we have for years and years.
Purely a coincidence, obviously, but I thought I would mention it.

It was another warm one today, 40 degrees for a couple of hours before starting to creep back again.
I've been putting cold water and ice cubes in the drinkers. Birds are fine.

I've had a bugger of a day.
I dropped a youngster the other day, but I've more coming through and, well, you are going to lose the odd one.
This morning I put the youngsters out at 7.30 am. It was forecast to get warm again but not for 6 hours or so. The small ones had a fly and some trapping practice. The the 6 big ones flew the hour and came back.
But there were only 4.
There's going to be a problem here, I thought.
At 4 pm I saw a pigeon come between the trees and drop in. As he turned around I could see he's been hit.
We cleaned him up with the fancier's best friend, Dettol, he's going to be okay. But he's shell shocked and trembling and will never be any good.
Still waiting for the other one.
