Hi Muzza, sorry I've not been in the loop for a while, and sorry to read that you've lost a few to the hawks, they really are a nightmare these days. I'm afraid it is now a case of learning to live with them as they aren't going away anytime soon.
Good to see that things have settled down a bit now, young Maggie does look very nice.
Good luck and best wishes mate.

It was bloody cold here this morning. My thermometer said it was 6.9 at 7 am. I was well rugged up when I went out, the breeze was rather brisk. :o

I closed the loft right up last night, it was cosy in there. I weaned 4 babies two days ago, they are in the Gordon box, with the cover over the front they were fine. I have another 4 ready to wean tomorrow or the next day. I am not sure what I will do with them. There's 3 blokes want more from me, so they can be gone straight away, but they are all nice types, I'm tempted to keep at least some of them. When in doubt, do nothing. I'll think on it for a couple of days.

The youngsters had a good fly, but even they aren't used to the cold. They didn't muck about getting back in

Very similar climate, Buster. It really isn't that far in a straight line.

While I'm thinking of it, I may be absent for a day or two or even several. Apparently there is an upgrade to the internet in the district this week and outages are very possible.

I'm sure you'll make the right choice for you and the birds mate.

I don't usually mind these cold, winter days, but I have to say I will glad when it warms up a bit, I clearly feeling my age :( :(

Cool and bright again this morning. I let the youngsters out at 7.30. They flew an hour and a quarter and dropped straight back in. Doing really well now. :D
I let some of the old cocks out with them, they only fly a few minutes and hop back in again. Apart from the Diver, he flies the whole session. Funny old bloke.
I am dead scared of losing the Roadrunner, he's irreplaceable. He's the image of his father the Hawkeye. Beautiful pigeon and also a bit highly strung. But yesterday he got out the door when I was scraping out. Walked out in front of the loft and flew back up and in the sputnik. :D
I'll have to let him fly at some point I suppose, but I keep putting it off.
