This hen has been to Barcelona in 2023 and 2024 performing well

Her reward is to see Barcelona again in 2025
Very nice looking bird and very impressive results, as you say, most of us would lock them away lol.
I do have a couple of birds here who have flown 400+ miles a couple times, one has had a 2nd Club from Perth the other a 1st club from Bordeaux, not quite as impressive I know :? but both have been again since.
I did have two hens back in the 90s who won the club from Thurso, 552miles, and Banff, about 470miles and both were carded on return visits, the Banff winner, in the same season, had also been carded from Berwick 4th club (348mls) and Stonehaven 2nd club (431mls) over a 5 week period, but both were lost from a bad Elgin race, 485miles, that is only true smash I've ever raced in, not one bird in whole Federation, made it home in race time.
As you say, having a bird in your loft that's done it once is special, but several that have done it time and time again is certainly extra special, especially at that standard of racing.
Proud times there Trev

Fascinating thread thanks chaps. I’ve made no secret of my desire to establish a robust team of distance birds. Barcelona is 800 miles to me - can it be done competitively/

Its a race Pete - surely it got to be competetive.
Whatever you want to call it - I'd like to join you in that quest. I fly 760 miles.
I'm in northants and guessing you are in the Midlands
somewhere.

I'd say yes Pete, it could be done - when circumstances dictate

The racepoint is different but we've seen many a pigeon flying over 700 miles before and be competitive (and win the overall race)

That’s good enough for me then, Mike. Like I’ve said before, I don’t expect to win a major but that doesn’t stop me having it as my ambition. Hell, I’ve not even won a club race yet ;)

It can be done. 2nd Open Barcelona has been done at 863 miles into Yorkshire and 12th Open into Humberside at 844 miles.

All top pigeons Mike. We've a hen there from Batenburg from Luna May she was 5th International in a real tough Barcelona when she was paired to a cock out of a pair who had won 1st (Sumerian Fighter) and 4th (saar) International , her first children are just at the yearling stage so be a year or two before we can make a judgement on her
Came across this just Gavin that I thought might interest you

Shows you what a son of the International winner "Sumerian Fighter" x "Luna May" has bred
