Got my babies going just over the hour they had about 20/25mins away today
There not very old so pleased with that
Hopefully they will start to roam more shortly
Never really find there the same if they don’t explore and loses can be bad
I remember seeing a fancier early February a few years ago having them do a hour but not once did they go out of sight while I was there he had a terrible year for losing babies yet had 3 months extra work than me
How’s others feel about ybs roaming or not

That's good to hear, Neil.
Yes, absolutely, if your babies are roaming you have a massive head start. If they are ranging way for 15 to 30 minutes you can start training further away and go out in bigger steps.
If they are only flying around the loft you must start close to home and go out in little jumps or, as you say, the losses can be bad.
I don't know why some years they disappear for ages and other years won't range at all.

I would want mine to be ranging. I think it’s important that they do before starting training. I’m not very happy with mine this year so far. They were January bred and don’t seem to fly much at all yet even though they are 3 flights up. Having said that I have to let them out mid afternoon and go back in the shop so not to sure what they do do. Not ideal I know.

Weaned mine between Apr n may
Got them trap trained 3 blows on whistle n there in loft in second
S most are basket trained the older ones are up batching but falling apart won't be long I give seed before I let out so they batch tight, this weekend they will get single tossed from end of street.
