When I was racing I had a section with 16 boxes in it

At no point in the last decade of racing can I remember any more than 10 cocks in that section

Why?

Throughout the setup (4 rows of 4 boxes) there would be boxes that I would close off so no pigeon had access to them

Then, in the lead up to a big race, 36 hrs before I'd allow access

Some cocks thrived on taking another box - other cocks felt threatened by the looming presence of a fresh cock next door to them

Has 3 box’s he likes to claim so shut two down in the week

My best cock in the past 7 years who had 3 fed wins in 2 years never took one box he took 3 foot square of floor I even made a box there 6 inch off the floor but he had no interest in it
